Welding, other Selsius workshops to be offered by SWIC

Selsius Corporate & Career Training at Southwestern Illinois College is again offering its Welding for the Average Joe workshop. It will be followed by the new, Welding the Next Step — Beyond Average.

Each three-session workshop will be held at the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus, 4950 Maryville Road.

Gailyn Cornell will bring her 30 years of welding experience to the lab, providing training for artistic creations, repairs and welding as a career.

Welding for the Average Joe introduces the most common forms of welding and provides the basic training needed to weld safely and effectively. It is scheduled for Oct. 3, 10 and 17 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Welding the Next Step — Beyond Average builds on those skills, focusing on higher-level techniques, machine setup, metallurgy, oxy-fuel equipment and TIG welding. It will be held Nov. 7, 14 and 21 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Each workshop is $99, which includes the use of gloves, safety glasses and helmets.
