Austin Mertens welcomed as Cork Tree Creative summer Account Team intern

Cork Tree Creative Inc. has announced the start of Account Team Intern Austin Mertens, serving in that capacity throughout the summer.
A recent graduate of Illinois State University (ISU), Mertens plans to use this summer experience as a starting point for his career in the public relations field.
Mertens earned his Bachelor of Science in May, majoring in public relations and minoring in technical writing. He has a background in technical writing, administrative support and various writing styles that will aid his daily assignments as an intern at Cork Tree Creative.
“We are excited to have Austin join our team over the summer as our account team intern. Our internship program is an important part of what we do to help develop talent in the region. We wish him the best in this new role and look forward to watching him grow his skills and become a more seasoned professional in this field,” said Laura Reed, co-owner of Cork Tree Creative.
Responsibilities as an account team intern include drafting press releases, creating content for the company’s social media accounts and assisting the account team. Mertens is most interested in drafting social media calendars and short-form content for the company’s various platforms.
Mertens noted that he is ready for any assignment and excited to get to know his fellow team members and learn the roles of others throughout the company.
