Financial services firm Charles Schwab has opened the doors to a new independent brokerage branch in Edwardsville.
The location will offer investors local access to a range of investing, wealth management and personal finance guidance, tools and products. It is at 1001 Century Drive Unit 1 and is part of a larger franchising initiative Schwab announced in early 2011.
Schwab’s decision to begin opening franchise branches, in addition to its more than 300 existing company-managed branches, is grounded in a commitment to make financial advice and planning more accessible in local communities across the country. Schwab’s company-managed and independent branches deliver the same suite of brokerage products and services, pricing, and overall client service and experience.
The Edwardsville branch is led by Schwab Independent Branch Leader Timothy J. Wayman, CFP, a financial services professional with 13 years of experience in investment management. Prior to joining Schwab’s independent branch network, Wayman was a director and retirement planner at Fidelity Investments. In this position Wayman provided investment management and financial planning services to employees at a number of Fidelity’s institutional clients throughout the area including Memorial Hospital in Belleville and Shiloh and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
“Through my conversations with clients, I’ve seen first-hand how important it is for people to have local access to actionable investing help and guidance that makes sense for their specific financial goals,” said Wayman. “Since its founding, Schwab has been an advocate for the individual investor, and I’m proud to be the face of Schwab in Edwardsville and the surrounding communities in Metro East.”
Wayman (shown) attended Greenville University in Greenville where he earned an undergraduate degree in business management and psychology. He later attended the University of North Texas, where he earned a graduate degree in finance. Additionally, Wayman has been a certified financial planner since 2008. He and his wife have two daughters.
In addition to one-on-one appointments, Wayman plans to hold a variety of educational investing workshops in the Edwardsville branch, which are complimentary and open to Schwab clients as well as the general public.
