Spotlight on Southwestern Illinois: Women in Banking and Finance

Lynda Tite, Vice President, First Clover Leaf Bank, Wood River

p12 TiteTite    As vice president at First Clover Leaf Bank, Lynda Tite is one of a very small group of female commercial lending professionals in the St. Louis Metro East region.  In the banking profession since 1979, Tite has been involved in the commercial aspect of the industry for the past 17 years — with the last seven of those spent at First Clover Leaf Bank.
An opportunity to move into the commercial arena came along for her in 1998 when the bank where she was working was bought out by a larger bank.
“That larger bank took note of my retail lending experience and offered me an opportunity to grow with them in their commercial lending area,” she said.
Tite’s specialty is commercial relationship management. For her, she says it all starts with putting customers at ease and making them feel comfortable; especially the small business owner who is just starting a business. Over the years, she said, it has been this type of personal attention that she gives her customers and to the relationships she builds with them that has allowed her to become a “successful woman in banking.”
“You have to be very honest and engaged with whomever the client is, and try to relate to the business owner with a completely open mind,” said Tite. “With today’s technology and the convenience offered by the online world, it is even more important to provide one-on-one attention. You have to stay relationship-minded.”
A full-service bank with all types of commercial loan services, First Clover Leaf Bank sets itself apart, she said, with its unique pool of professionals with individualized experiences working with municipalities, small businesses, nonprofits, education, SBA and the corporate arena.
A longtime member of the RiverBend Growth Association, Tite received her bachelor of science degree in organizational leadership from Greenville College. She has two grown children, two grandchildren and enjoys spending time with her family as well as running and cycling. She recently completed her first 5K run.
