The 3rd Judicial Circuit will offer free legal services to residents of Bond County at the courthouse in Greenville on Sept. 24, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Help with finding forms and research will be available through a grant received from the Illinois Courts that made Angela Warta the self-represented litigant coordinator for the circuit.
Warta will be at the Greenville courthouse to assist patrons who do not have an attorney on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“It has long been a goal of the Third Circuit Pro Bono Committee to expand services to Bond County and we are pleased that this grant will allow us to start providing this help and hopefully add other services in the future,” noted Chief Judge David Hylla.
Warta is the law librarian and pro bono coordinator at the Madison County Courthouse and has been trained to assist self-represented litigants in finding state-wide approved court forms and directing these individuals to available court resources and general legal information. The assistance can be provided for general civil cases such dissolution (divorce), name change, guardianships, small claims or evictions. These services will be provided in Bond County thanks to the oversight of Circuit Judge John Knight and Associate Judge Ronald Slemer.
