Caritas Family Solutions brings in over $86,000 with 24-hour fundraising campaign

Fundraising efforts tied to nonprofit’s 76th anniversary celebration

Caritas Family Solutions recently celebrated the 76th anniversary of its founding as an Illinois nonprofit human services agency in a big way. On July 31, which is known as Caritas Day, the nonprofit raised more than $86,000 within 24 hours as part of a matching fundraising campaign designed to support the programs they support.

Caritas currently serves more than 7,000 people including 2,300 foster children and is the second-largest provider of foster care services in Illinois. They also have other service lines which include senior employment, pregnancy care for women experiencing homelessness, adoption, counseling, and independent living for adults with disabilities.

As part of the 24-hour fundraising campaign, community sponsors matched $3 to every $1 donated to Caritas, quadrupling the impact of each donation. The nonprofit’s original fundraising goal was $60,000, but the organization passed that total with hours still left in the campaign.

“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped us reach this incredible goal,” said Caritas Family Solutions CEO Gary Huelsmann. “Together, we’re bringing more resources to our organization so that we can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of all of the children, individuals and families we serve. We have made a tremendous impact in the past 76 years and it’s all thanks to those who support our mission.”
