IDOT announces daytime I-55/70 lane closures set for May 26, 30

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced lane closures can be expected on southbound Interstate 55/70 near milepost 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 26 and Tuesday, May 30.

One southbound lane will be open. These lane closures are required to conduct electrical work on sign truss structures at each location. One lane will be open at all times at each work location.

Motorists can expect significant delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
