SIUE School of Engineering celebrates academic excellence, awards over $122K in scholarships

SIUE Cougar Baja receives the Outstanding Student Organization Award.
The School of Engineering (SOE) at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville celebrated academic excellence, dedicated service and outstanding leadership at its annual awards ceremony.
At the event, 83 scholarships totaling over $122,000 were awarded. The SOE recognized students who achieved the fall 2022 Dean’s List and also honored its outstanding juniors, seniors, graduate students, teachers and alumni.
“It is a great pleasure to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students, faculty, staff and alumni,” said SOE Dean Cem Karacal, Ph.D., during his opening remarks. “It is an honor to recognize these exceptional individuals for their hard work, dedication and commitment to academic excellence.”
“All of these individuals have demonstrated a tremendous amount of talent, perseverance and commitment to their studies and work,” Karacal continued. “Thank you to our donors. Your unwavering commitment to these students has played an integral role in their success.”
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Computer Association of SIUE (CAOS), Society of Women Engineers and SIUE Cougar Baja were finalists for the Outstanding Student Organization Award. Faculty, staff and students casted their votes, and SIUE Cougar Baja received first place.
SIUE Cougar Baja will have their name added to a trophy in the Fowler Student Design Center and receive $1,000 for future activities. Runner-ups IEEE and (CAOS)
