I-270 work begins March 27, intermittent overnight lane closures through June

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that intermittent overnight lane closures are scheduled to take place on Interstate 270 between Riverview Drive in Missouri and Illinois 3 starting, weather permitting, Monday, March 27.

The closures are necessary for road repairs. Motorists should expect overnight lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, March 27, through the end of June. One lane in both directions will remain open at all times. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning.

Additionally, to accommodate advance work, a weekend lane closure on eastbound I-270 between Riverview Drive in Missouri and Illinois 3 is scheduled to take place, weather permitting, at 5 a.m., Saturday, March 25. At least one eastbound lane will remain open at all times. All lanes are expected to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, March 27.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
