Madison County Community Development moves into new location

Madison County Community Development started moving into its new offices last week at the Administration Building.

County employees began the work of moving the department from its current location at 130 Hillsboro Ave., Edwardsville into the former Probation Department on the third floor of the Administration Building at 157 N. Main St.

“We are excited to be moving into our new space,” MCCD Administrator Chris Otto said.

Otto said he expected the majority of office equipment to be moved by Friday, Jan. 6, but it will take some time to unpack paperwork and other materials.

The renovation costs for the Community Development relocation, which included painting and installing new carpet was around $105,000.

County Board member Mick Madison said the past few months has basically been a big jigsaw puzzle with pieces moving all around for the Facilities Department.

Madison said he is appreciative of all the work done by Facilities in not only preparing the new office space for Community Development, but also organizing the move for Probation and preparing for the renovation of the now vacated Community Development location, also known as the “annex” building.

The Probation Department relocated its offices in October 2022 to its current location at 200 Clay Street where it will remain until renovation work is complete sometime this fall.
