FEMA to share updated Madison County flood insurance maps at January open houses

Updated preliminary flood insurance rate maps are being released for Madison County

The Federal Emergency Management Agency plans to host in-person Open House meetings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. CT on Jan. 18 and 19, 2023.

The Jan. 18 meeting will be held at Granite City Township Hall, 2060 Delmar Ave.

On Jan. 19, the meeting will be held at Wood River Public Library, 326 E. Ferguson Ave.

The Open Houses will introduce Madison County residents to their updated flood maps.

At each Open House, attendees will have a chance to:

• Hear from flood insurance professionals and state and local officials about what updated flood maps mean for their community.
• Search and review the preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report and Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Madison County  here.
• See their property and its risk on the preliminary FIRM.
• Get answers to questions about the maps, the mapping process and flood insurance.

Note: There is no formal presentation during the Open House meetings.
