Edwardsville-based Contegra completes 1.1-million-square-foot facility in Columbus

Contegra Construction Co. has completed a 1.1 million-square-foot distribution facility at the fast-growing Cubes at Etna 70 industrial development near Columbus, Ohio. The speculative facility known as Building E was built for developer CRG and its capital partner LXP Industrial Trust. The 289-acre master-planned development is located at 9800 Schuster Way at SR 310 and Interstate 70, approximately 20 minutes from Downtown Columbus, 15 minutes from John Glenn International Airport, and 20 minutes from Rickenbacker International Airport.

The new speculative facility was designed by Lamar Johnson Collaborative (the “LJC”). Contegra constructed the project with tilt-up concrete panels. It features a 40-foot clear height, 108 dock doors, four drive-in docks, fully equipped dock packages with manual dock levelers, clerestory warehouse windows, an ESFR sprinkler system, efficient LED high-bay lighting with occupancy sensors and parking for 289 tractor-trailers and 298 cars with space to add additional trailer parking.  The facility’s roof features energy-efficient TPO roofing with R20 insulation.

At full build-out, The Cubes at Etna 70 is a CRG master-planned industrial park that will offer up to 2.9 million square feet of modern industrial space across approximately 220.6 acres. Building E adds to the park’s ongoing growth which includes a 1.2 million-square-foot, build-to-suit, distribution center development for retail giant Kohl’s.

“Columbus remains an integral market for supply chain and logistics real estate needs,” said Kevin Scott, vice president of investments and development at CRG. “We are excited to offer this newly constructed, modern asset to the robust, diversified, and ever-expanding list of companies that have an immediate need for space in the market.”

CRG has planned projects, broken ground or completed approximately 53 million square feet of Cubes projects for Fortune 500 and other users throughout the U.S. Other recently completed projects in the Columbus market include The Cubes at Rickenbacker, a 320,000-square-foot speculative industrial project in Obetz, Ohio, also constructed by Contegra.
