East St. Louis mayor receives 32-foot air boost from Ameren Illinois

Ameren Illinois provides lift to East St. Louis Mayor Eastern to light star on top of city’s Christmas tree

East St. Louis Mayor Robert Eastern III plugs in the star on top of the Christmas tree in the City with the assistance of Ameren Illinois journeyman lineman Josh Daniels. Ameren Illinois donated the LED holiday lights for the tree and then gave Eastern a lift in a double bucket truck, Friday afternoon, to officially kick-off the Christmas season in the City.

Ameren Illinois gave East St. Louis Mayor Robert Eastern III a major boost on Friday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2022, by providing a lift up in one of its double bucket trucks to light the star on top of the city’s 32-foot Christmas tree. The celebration took place on-site from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at East St. Louis City Hall, 301 Riverpark Dr., officially kicking off the holiday season in the City of East St. Louis.

Mayor Eastern was accompanied by other city officials to mark the occasion. Ameren Illinois officials were also on hand including Director of Electric Operations Jason Klein and Community Relations Executive Paula Nixon, accompanied by journeyman lineman Josh Daniels manning the truck and bucket lift.

The mayor told the crowd he was “a tad bit nervous taking a bucket truck ride,” but said he would “confidently plug in the Christmas star for the City of Champions.”

The tree itself had already been decorated with strands of LED holiday lights donated by Ameren Illinois, with its Energy Efficiency team donating 80 strands of LED lights to the city.
