Schlafly Beer launches annual ‘Cans for Cans’ food drive benefitting St. Louis Area Foodbank

Guests can redeem up to a free six-pack of Schlafly Beer cans for canned food donations at all Schlafly brewpubs

Schlafly Beer, St. Louis’ original, independent craft brewery, has announced the return of its seasonal “Cans for Cans” food drive, a program for the holiday giving season to benefit St. Louis Area Foodbank.

Through Wednesday, Nov. 30, St. Louis Metro region participants can donate two non-perishable canned goods and receive one can of Schlafly beer. One can of Schlafly beer is redeemable for every two non-perishable canned food items donated. Guests can donate up to 12 canned food items to redeem up to six cans of beer per visit. Must show proof of 21+ ID with donation.

Canned food donations can be made at all Schlafly brewpubs: Schlafly Highland Square (907 Main St., Highland, IL 62249); the Schlafly Tap Room in downtown St. Louis (2100 Locust St.); Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood (7260 Southwest Ave.); and Schlafly Bankside in St. Charles (920 S. Main St., St. Charles, MO 63301).

All donated canned goods will be delivered to St. Louis Area Foodbank to help address food insecurities in our community. St. Louis Area Foodbank provides food and services to 26 counties in Missouri and Illinois. More than 392,000 people in the bi-state region rely on the Foodbank for assistance each year.

Last year, Schlafly donated an overflowing pallet of food that equated to 864 pounds thanks to the St. Louis community and their continued support of the Cans for Cans program.

Schlafly Beer’s CEO Fran Caradonna says, “This is our sixth year of hosting the ‘Cans for Cans’ initiative and, thanks to the community’s support, we’re able to increase the contribution made each year. We feel that Schlafly has a responsibility to give back, and we’re lucky to have the support from St. Louisians who help us make a difference for local families who are fighting hunger each day. We hope to double our contribution this year and ask everyone to join us in reaching this goal.”
