Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors gives back to 35 Metro East businesses, charities to mark 50th anniversary

Locally-owned Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors (CBBR) is celebrating its 50th anniversary by giving back to the communities they serve. The REALTOR group recently purchased gift cards from local businesses and gave them out to a variety of charitable organizations. Thirty-five local businesses and nonprofits were supported through the initiative.

“We wanted to find a fun way to celebrate our anniversary and maximize the impact of our donation by supporting local businesses and causes that are important to us,” said Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors’ President, Gerry Schuetzenhofer. “We tasked REALTORS at our seven offices to come up with lists of local businesses and organizations they wanted to support. Then they purchased $50 gift cards from all of the businesses they selected and gave those gift cards out to local nonprofit groups. It was a great way to involve our entire team and help local causes and businesses that were close to our hearts.”

Some of these local charities include Freeburg Food and Clothing Bank, Hospice of Southern Illinois, Metro East Humane Society, Holly’s House of Hope, Faith In Action, Women’s Oasis Center, Collinsville Fire and Police Departments, Get Your Six PTSD Support Dogs, Ministries Unlimited and Boys and Girls Club of Alton.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the local Coldwell Banker franchise and Coldwell Banker brand’s 116th anniversary. The REALTOR group has nearly doubled in size since Schuetzenhofer became the president and owner 17 years ago. At that time, they had 60 agents and 4 offices. CBBR now has seven locations and 210 REALTORS and staff working throughout the Metro East, making it the largest real estate firm in the area. Schuetzenhofer credits their growth to several successful mergers and new agents entering the profession.

“Over the years we have been fortunate to add 12 great companies with experienced agents into the Coldwell Banker family,” said Schuetzenhofer. “We also operate the Gateway Academy of Real Estate where people wanting to enter the business can get their licensing. We’re excited to see CBBR continue to grow.”

Schuetzenhofer said supporting charities has been a core focus of their REALTOR group throughout the years. Coldwell Banker began a partnership with St Jude’s in 2020 and has raised $24,000 so far. CBBR REALTORS also holds annual pet adoption events with Partners 4 Pets and has raised $20,000 over the last six years and found homes for more than 130 pets.
