Eckert’s Millstadt farm opens with corn maze design by local artist

Joseph Zolman is the winner of the Eckert’s corn maze design competition, and his design shows spirit for St. Louis CITY SC

Eckert’s Farm, 2719 Eckert Orchard Ln., Millstadt, Ill., has announced the winner of its corn maze design competition. Joseph Zolman, a resident from the St. Louis area, submitted a web design that won the appreciation of judges for its creative application of the 2022 design theme: St. Louis CITY SC spirit.

The winning artwork has been cut into Eckert’s 12-acre corn maze at the Millstadt farm, which guests can visit Fridays through Sundays beginning Friday, Sept. 9.

Advanced admission tickets to Eckert’s Millstadt farm range in price from $2.50 to $16.50 per person and includes entry to the corn maze and other fall family favorite activities on the farm. Only tickets purchased for Friday through Sunday include corn maze admission. Tickets can be purchased from Eckert’s website. The Millstadt farm will open for the season on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Additionally, Eckert’s Millstadt Farm will donate a portion of each farm admission ticket on the weekend of Sept. 16 to 18, 2022, to St. Louis CITY SC’s soccer program with the Gateway Region YMCA. The initiative provides eligible youth the opportunity to participate in the program for a reduced cost.

“We launched the public design contest in 2021 and had many submissions for our theme of Healthcare Heroes,” says President of Eckert’s Inc. Chris Eckert. “We hoped to continue the excitement this year by partnering with St. Louis CITY SC to give them a warm welcome and to celebrate a local’s creative work that represents the spirit of pride for our new MLS team. We’re happy to provide a platform for people to share their artwork, and cannot wait to unveil the design from this talented individual.”

Admission to Eckert’s Millstadt Farm includes a myriad of fun activities for people of all ages, including a petting zoo, miniature golf, push pedal tractors, carnival rides, a pumpkin cannon, and a 70-foot slide. The Millstadt farm also offers pick-your-own apples, where guests can ride the tractor out to pick a variety of apples in the orchard. The farm will later offer a pumpkin patch in late September through October and other activities including haunted hayrides and bonfires.

Eckert’s Millstadt farm will be open Wednesday through Sunday each week with the corn maze open Fridays through Sundays. Guests of the farm can reserve their ticketed time slots on Eckert’s website from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays for $2.50 per person, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays for $11 per person, and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $16.50 per person (children under 2 are free).

Thanks for the blog and shout out. You can view my original submission and other projects at Behance under username Huelium in my online portfolio. I love networking and you can send an invite to Joseph Zolman on LinkedIn. Again, Thank you.

The concepts surrounding the soccer club and St. Louis City that I incorporated into the design were city buildings; the Mississippi/Missouri River; Forest Park; the Fleur-de-lis emblem; Unity and Optimism (inspiration of the St. Louis’ MLS team’s name and crest design); embarking the maze seekers into a huge soccer ball accompanied by the St. Louis CITY SC logo. Then, further destiny awaits you at the back of the maze, where you encounter a united inspired team play, passing to an attacking position and scoring a goal. With this design, minimalism in art was indeed intended. Legend has it, the Centene Stadium is behind the logo.

I would like to personally thank Khalia Collier, vice president of community relations at St. Louis CITY SC, and Chris Eckert, president of Eckert’s Inc., for this opportunity. It was a tremendous honor to be selected.
