Glen Carbon seeking sponsors for Oct. 1 festival held at Miner Park

The Village of Glen Carbon will be hosting Glenfest at Miner Park once again on Saturday, Oct. 1. This community-wide annual event showcases a wide variety of local businesses and is filled with great music, food, drinks, entertainment, fireworks and more. Sponsorship opportunities are also available at various levels to businesses wanting to partner with the Village on this year’s festival, helping to create an event that’s bigger and better than ever.

Kicking off this year’s festivities is a Main Street Pet Parade at 5 p.m. that will raise funds for Partners for Pets. A $10 registration fee is required. More information and registration forms are available on the Village Events page at www.glencarbonil.gov or at Village Hall located at 151 N. Main. Participants can also register and pay directly through the Partners for Pets registration link at https://partnersforpets.salsalabs.org/GlenfestPetParadetoBenefitPartnersforPets. Adoption opportunities will also be available at the Partners for Pets booth at Glenfest.

Further activities will include the highly popular Bubble Bus, Riverbend Ax Throwing, and select food and drink vendors in addition to a bags tournament. More information is to be announced soon. This year’s musical guest is the St. Louis-based band, The Big Rigs, on stage starting at 7 p.m. Their music mixes cover tunes with three-part vocal harmony, fiddle, and country-rooted vibes. The festival will conclude with a fireworks display co-sponsored by The Staenberg Group.

Mayor Bob Marcus says he is looking forward to the festival and appreciates recommendations from the community. “We had residents wanting a pet parade this year and we thought it was a great idea to team up with Partners for Pets,” said Marcus. “Glenfest is a great event that brings local businesses together to celebrate our community and its residents.”
