The Litchfield Pickers Market will return to downtown Litchfield, Ill., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022. A family-friendly event, this vintage and antique market takes place every second Sunday of the month through October.
With a starting point at 400 North State Street, the market is located less than three miles off Interstate 55. And as the largest open-air pickers market in the region, Litchfield Pickers Market specializes in antiques, collectibles, vintage items, and refurbished items.
There is no cost to enter the market, and there are multiple entry points. Visitors can park around the perimeter and the market (follow the applicable parking signage). Animals are not permitted at the Litchfield Pickers Market, except for service-assisted animals.
Each month the Litchfield Pickers Market features musicians performing at Carnegie Park. During the market on Aug. 14, B & B Strings will start the morning off by playing live music from 9 to 11:30 a.m. B & B Strings consists of acoustic guitars, bass guitar and some keyboard accompaniment. The three members play classic rock, country and are always working with harmony arrangements. Following B & B Strings will be Skibbereen, who will play live from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Skibbereen plays blues, jazz, reggae, rock, and roll, and Celtic. Bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets to relax, sit back, and enjoy the free music.
While exploring the market, visitors can also check out the exclusive 2022 Litchfield Pickers Market t-shirt at the Litchfield Tourism Information Booth, along with other Pickers Market gear. The Tourism Information Booth in front of the flagpole in the park. Volunteers will also be on hand at the Information Booth to provide information and answer questions about the Pickers Market as well as about the City of Litchfield.
Food will be available along State Street and located at every intersection. Food vendors and their locations are listed at the information booth as well as on the Litchfield Pickers website, http://visitlitchfield.com/events/litchfieldpickersmarket/
The following roads will be closed on Aug. 14 and every second Sunday of the month through October from 4 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to facilitate the Litchfield Pickers Market:
- State Street from Union Ave./ Route 16 to the south entrance of the Brown Shoe Apartments,
- Kirkham Street,
- Ryder Street, and
- Edwards Street from Monroe Street to Madison Street.
Any vehicles left in these areas during this time will be towed at the owner’s expense.
There have been some changes to the Litchfield Pickers Market to ensure public safety and sanitation standards for visitors, vendors, and staff. To aid in public sanitation efforts, everyone will be asked directly to dispose of their own trash in the provided dumpsters that are located on the block market. Limited picnic tables are provided in the park area, but the public is encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Organizers of the Litchfield Pickers Market appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation in implementing these changes throughout the season.
To best experience the Market, it is also recommended to bring totes, wagons, carts, pick-up trucks and anything that will help in hauling away purchased items.
