Neurosurgery of St. Louis adds city native Dr. Sarah Travers to growing team
Neurosurgery of St. Louis (NSL) has added St. Louis native and Neurosurgeon Sarah Travers, MD, to its growing practice. Dr. Travers specializes in brain tumors and will also perform general neurosurgery.
“I am excited to see the growth of Neurosurgery of St Louis with the addition of Dr. Travers,” said Neurosurgeon Neill Wright, MD. “She is a remarkably well-trained and accomplished neurosurgeon, with multiple publications from her training at Washington University, University of Missouri, and the University of Colorado. She brings with her a strong background in general Neurosurgery, with a specific interest in brain tumors. We are excited to add her to the team providing compassionate, outstanding, and accessible care to the people of St Louis and surrounding areas.”
Dr. Travers received her undergraduate degree from Emory University and attended St. George’s University School of Medicine for medical school in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Travers completed her residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. She performed her fellowship in neurosurgical oncology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus.
Dr. Travers was named Resident of the Year in 2017 and 2021 at the University of Missouri. She has published numerous research articles and surgical videos in medical journals and is currently writing the Congress of Neurological Surgeons’ guidelines for surgical treatment of hormonally-producing pituitary tumors.
“NSL has a dynamic group of talented neurosurgeons that each have their own area of expertise,” said Dr. Travers. “The team works so well together and as a younger neurosurgeon entering this field, I’m excited to benefit from their knowledge and mentorship. I am really looking forward to providing care in my hometown and getting to know the patients of NSL.”
Dr. Travers will primarily work in Maryville, Ill., and Town and Country, Mo., but will have surgery credentials at all of NSL’s locations.
She and her family are originally from St. Louis and have family ties to the area. She and her husband are both avid Cardinals fans and attend games whenever they can.
