Eckert’s Farm, the family farm at 951 S Green Mount Rd., Belleville, Ill., announces the return of its Sunflower Trail on Friday, July 29, with the Sunflower Experience, where guests can enjoy a field of sunflowers reaching over six feet high as well as pick and cut their own sunflowers to take home with them.
The two-acre trail is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 29 through 31 and Aug. 2 through 7, with tickets priced at $5 plus field access starting at $2.50 during the week and $5.50 on Saturday and Sunday (children under two are free). The ticket price also includes field access for guests to pick the farm’s tree-ripened peaches and vine-grown blackberries.
Additionally, Eckert’s Farm is staying open late for Sunflower Date Night on Thursday, Aug. 4, to offer a unique experience for guests to enjoy the sunset surrounded by sunflowers. Reservations are required for the Sunflower Experience and Sunflower Date Night and can be purchased on Eckert’s website.
“Sunshine and summer heat brought us a beautiful crop of sunflowers this year, despite being some of the most temperamental plants to grow,” says Angie Eckert, vice president of retail operations and horticulturist. “This year, come by to enjoy a day or evening surrounded by beautiful sunflowers and we hope you’ll stay and enjoy a cocktail from our new Cider Shed or a treat from Mr. E’s Donut & Custard Shop for a full, relaxing summer experience.”
