Eckert’s Orchards Pick-Your-Own returns, with peaches, blackberries in season

Eckert’s Farm, the family farm and country store in Belleville, Ill., at 951 S. Green Mount Rd., announces the return of Pick-Your-Own peaches, allowing guests to pick peaches, blackberries and fresh vegetables in one trip to the farm. Visitors are welcome to head out and harvest the pick-your-own fields from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Guests must purchase field access passes for pick-your-own fruits and vegetables, starting at $2.50 during the week and $5.50 on Saturday and Sunday; children under two are free. Field access passes and crop availability updates can be found on Eckert’s website,

“This is always an exciting time of year because our guests can come to the farm in one trip and have three different Pick-Your-Own experiences,” says Chris Eckert, president of Eckert’s Inc. “Now, with our brand new Cider Shed and Mr. E’s Donut & Custard Shop, guests can extend their stay to enjoy desserts, and a new menu of food and beverages in the Cider Shed. It’s a full day of fun for the whole family and more than we’ve ever been able to offer guests in one visit.”

Eckert’s Cider Shed offers the farm’s complete line of handcrafted hard cider, highlighting fruits that are grown on the farm, in addition to seasonal cocktails. Eckert’s also released a new cider to honor the opening of the Cider Shed, Burnin Spurs, featuring apple, mango and habanero flavors, and it is available on tap. The food menu includes a selection of shareables, salads, power bowls and desserts. Guests can try shareables such as the pretzel with hard cider fondue, brisket nachos and trio of dips; seasonal salads like the summer berry salad will rotate and power bowls like the Korean power bowl offer a punch of health and flavor.

Frozen custard, sundaes and sweets are the focus at Mr. E’s Donut & Custard Shop and are freshly made and available year-round. The new store utilizes the farm’s produce and baked goods for seasonally-inspired treats like the Berry-Go-Round sundae, made with fresh blackberries, donuts, custard, whipped cream and sprinkles.

Additionally, Eckert’s in Grafton, Ill., at 20995 Eckert Orchard Road, is open for pick-your-own peaches and blackberries as well from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Guests can purchase field access to the Grafton farm on Eckert’s website.

If customers cannot make it out to the farm, Eckert’s seasonal market in Rock Hill (9530 Manchester Rd, St. Louis, MO 63119) offers the farm’s tree-ripened peaches, homegrown blackberries, homegrown seasonal veggies, freshly baked items, and more. The fruits and vegetables are picked fresh daily and delivered to the market within 24 hours. Eckert’s St. Louis Market offers an excellent opportunity for guests to have Eckert’s at home. Eckert’s St. Louis Market is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Sunday, August 14.
