Opera Edwardsville launching fifth season with artist-in-residence

Opera Edwardsville will celebrate its fifth anniversary season with a free opera for kids, a free outdoor concert at Edwardsville City Park, its signature ticketed December concert and its popular series “The 12 Days of Opera Edwardsville” shared online throughout December.
Opera Edwardsville also has announced the appointment of pianist Joseph Welch as the company’s first artist-in-residence. The season-long designation has been underwritten by an anonymous donor.
Opera Edwardsville has developed a portfolio of education and outreach programs that have reached 5,000-plus grade schoolers through an annual opera for kids, 300-plus high school and college students through masterclasses.
Some 80,000-plus viewers watch the free online performances.
The generosity of donors and sponsors enables three of the four programs in OE’s fifth season to be presented free. OE is a registered 501(c)(3) and donations are tax deductible.
