Excellence in Edwardsville nominations sought from community

Edwardsville Mayor Art Risavy is asking the community to nominate examples of excellence.

The effort is to recognize residents whose generous efforts, contributions, and achievements foster and enhance civic pride and responsibility, promote appreciation, and embody the spirit of the city to encourage public service through selflessness.

Previously, the mayor (shown) had asked city employees who are with residents on a daily basis to take note of residents who are selflessly acting for the betterment of our community and/or neighbors through acts of kindness.

Now, he is encourage the public to nominate a resident or residents when he/she witnesses positive and kind contributions within the city. As nominations are received, a resident is recognized at an upcoming meeting of the City Council and is presented with a token of appreciation for his/her contribution to the City of Edwardsville.

“The residents of this community are a key factor in making the city an ideal place to live, and those who take ownership through selfless acts make Edwardsville enjoyable for each and every one of us,” Risavy said.

The following people have received the Excellence in Edwardsville recognition: Harry and Erica Parker, Keyona Harris, Kristen and Nora Webber, Denise Arendell, Sarah Rankin and Glynda Lavelle.
