ImpactLife opens blood donation center in Fairview Heights

ImpactLife, a blood provider to hospitals across the St. Louis region, has opened a new blood donation center in Fairview Heights.

The facility, which opened Monday, Jan. 24, at 10900B Lincoln Trail (Midway Plaza), will be available Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Sundays from 7  until 11 a.m. Appointments are required for donation.

To schedule, call (800) 747-5401 or schedule online at www.bloodcenter.org, or via the ImpactLife mobile app (www.bloodcenter.org/app).

ImpactLife is a not-for-profit provider of blood components to 125 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin and collects donations on mobile blood drives as well as its 21 “fixed site” donor centers spread across the ImpactLife service region.

ImpactLife also operates donation centers in Crestwood and St. Peters, Mo., and has a regional operations hub, laboratory, and product distribution center in Earth City.

The new donor center is coming online at a critical time as the region’s blood supply has been hard hit by winter weather and the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. ImpactLife seeks approximately 3600 donations every week to support a five-day supply of all blood components across its entire service region. In recent weeks, however, weekly collections have ranged from 2,500 to 3,000 donations, leading to just a one- to two-day supply of blood components that are in highest demand.

Blood donations are often used to help treat patients with cancer, victims of trauma and patients undergoing major surgeries. All persons age 17 and up (or 16, with a signed parental permission form) who weigh at least 110 lbs. and are in general good health meet the basic eligibility requirements for blood donation. For more information, call ImpactLife at (800) 747-5401, visit www.bloodcenter.org., or download the IMPACT mobile app at www.bloodcenter.org/app.

Everyone who registers to give blood through March 20, 2022, at any ImpactLife donor center or mobile blood drive will receive a voucher to redeem for the ImpactLife Saint Patrick’s Day themed shirt or gift card. Additionally, the blood center will provide double points for use in the ImpactLife Donor Rewards Store during the weeks of Jan. 24–30, Feb. 14–27, and March 7–20.

ImpactLife is a not-for-profit community organization providing blood services to 125 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin, as well as resource sharing partners across the country. Services extend from southcentral Wisconsin to St. Louis and from Danville, Ill., to Chariton, Iowa.

ImpactLife operates 20 donor centers and holds approximately 5,000 mobile blood drives annually to provide blood components needed for patient transfusions at hospitals throughout our region.
