Swansea-based independent wealth management firm Archford Capital Strategies recently donated $42,500 to 24 local charities through its fifth annual Archford Angels campaign.
In an effort to encourage employees to actively serve in their communities, Archford’s CEO and Founder Jim Maher launched Archford Angels, a philanthropic business model to engage employees and partner them with local nonprofit organizations. Each Archford team member receives a $1,000 grant to partner with a local charity of their choice and work on a project. The Archford employees then compete amongst one another for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes of additional grants of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 to the winning charities. They also hold an online competition for an extra $1,000 grant for the charity with the most votes. This year’s winners chosen by the Archford advisory board are:
- 1st Place: Amanda White partnered with Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois, which received the $10,000 grant
- 2nd Place: Jennifer Boyer partnered with Belleville Summer Sack Lunch Program/Zion Lutheran Church, which received the $5,000 grant
- 3rd place: Jacob Hong partnered with Southwestern Illinois Leadership Council, which received the $2,500 grant
- Online Voting Competition Winner: Anna Hanger partnered with Stray Rescue of St. Louis, which received an additional $1,000 grant
Since the program’s inception in 2017, a cumulative total of $791,147.50 in monetary donations, gifts and grants have been given to charities throughout the region.
“It is humbling for me to watch our team members’ lead their projects. The impact they are having on these organizations and the communities they serve is significant. The last two years have been challenging as these organizations struggle with the effects of the pandemic. These organizations need our help now more than ever, I am proud to say that our team members have stepped up to make a difference,” said Jim Maher, CEO and founder of Archford. “I am also inspired by other companies that have adapted this model. Salute to our Angels in their groundbreaking efforts to get this program to where it is. It is not only helping local nonprofits, but now other businesses are also investing in their communities with similar programs throughout the nation.”
