3rd Circuit associate judgeship comes open, replacement sought

Associate Judge Clarence Harrison II is stepping down from the bench in Madison County, and a replacement is being sought.

William Mudge, chief judge of the 3rd Judicial Circuit announced Wednesday that Harrison is resigning his post effective Dec. 10.

Attorneys who are licensed to practice in Illinois and live in the circuit may apply for the vacancy through the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts within a 30-day period.

Applications may be accessed from the Office of the Chief Judge, the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts or the Illinois Supreme court website at https://illinoiscourts.gov.

Harrison, of Collinsville (shown), had been an attorney for 10 years when he was first appointed to the bench in 1999 and was reappointed in 2015. He was defeated in the general election for a circuit judgement on Nov. 4, 2014, losing to John B. Barberis Jr.
