Third candidate for SIUE chancellor is dean at Virginia Commonwealth University

The Chancellor Search Advisory Committee has made public the name of the third of four candidates who are seeking to head the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville campus.

Dr. Andrew Daire will visit campus Oct. 24, 25 and 26. He currently serves as the dean of the School of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. His bio can be found on the Chancellor search website.

Daire will have open forums on the Edwardsville, Alton, and East St. Louis campuses.  At the Edwardsville open forum, he has been asked to present on the topic, “Positioning SIUE for Transformative Change and Impact in a Post-Pandemic World.” 

A link to the video recording of the forum on the Edwardsville campus will be available for a limited period on the Chancellor search website, as well as a link to the feedback form.

Open Forum 1 (Edwardsville) will take place Monday, Oct. 25, from 9 to 10 a.m., Conference Center, MUC

The fourth finalist will be announced on Tuesday, said Dr. Jessica C. Harris, chair of the search committee.

She is vice chancellor for equity, diversity, and inclusion at SIUE.

Current Chancellor Randy Pembrook has announced plans to retire at the end of the current academic year. Pembrook became the ninth chancellor in SIUE’s history on Aug. 1, 2016.

The two previously announced candidates are:

– Dr. James T. Minor, assistant vice chancellor and senior strategist in the Office of the Chancellor at the California State University.

– Dr. Shari McMahan, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at California State University San Bernardino.
