Businesses show support for upcoming Opera Edwardsville

A variety of businesses are getting behind Opera Edwardsville, which will have it’s first live outdoor performance in Edwardsville’s City Park at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10.

The free event is open to the public, and a variety of guest artists will perform throughout.

The outdoor concert is intended to build upon the success of OE’s 2020 virtual season that reached 40,000-plus views, and 2018 and 2019 events that were performed to sold-out audiences.

Guest artists will include sopranos Angel Azzarra and Katherine Weber, mezzo-soprano Lindsay Meztger, baritone Schyler Vargas, tenor Alex McKissick and pianist Joseph Welch. OE will feature soprano Delaney Holliday, a student performer who recently starred as Jack in OE’s opera for kids, Jack in the Beanstalk. To ensure the musical quality of the event, OE has contracted state-of-the-art amplification to be provided by Chicago’s Aphorism Studios for the outdoor concert. The musical program will feature many of opera’s greatest hits, including arias and ensembles by Rossini, Mozart, Puccini, Bernstein and Bizet.

Audiences are encouraged to bring their chairs and picnics to be enjoyed under the stars on the lawn of the Edwardsville City Park.

Lead sponsorship for OE’s 2021 Season is provided by the Rotary Club of Edwardsville and presenting sponsors Stifel and Lewis Rice, LLC. Additional support comes from the Bank of Madison County and the Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Department. OE said it is grateful to numerous individuals for supporting OE as 2021 Season Donors.
