OSF Saint Anthony’s plants tree in honor of cancer survivors

In honor of National Cancer Survivor’s Day on June 6, OSF Saint Anthony’s Health Center in Alton planted a Kwanzan Cherry Tree on Thursday in front of OSF Moeller Cancer Center. A ceremony was held Friday to dedicate the tree to all survivors who have faced cancer and emerged stronger from the fight. Speakers included OSF Saint Anthony’s President Jerry Rumph. Four cancer survivors were present, Bud Webb, Suzie Bangert, Larry Sams and Larry Nicol. Each of the four survivors received a tiny bell, emblematic of the bell that is rung after their final treatment. The ceremony concluded with a song from the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George.
