Since 1966, The Esquiline has been serving those in need on the scenic Belleville campus it shares with the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. In January 2021, The Esquiline joined Benedictine, bringing the expertise of a leading faith-based provider of senior care and living services to the community.
Now, to positively reflect the affiliation with Benedictine and to honor the relationship with the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, The Esquiline will become Benedictine Living Community – At The Shrine. The change became effective on Tuesday of this week.
Benedictine is a nationally recognized, nonprofit senior care organization based in Minnesota. Sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery, Duluth, Minn., Benedictine owns and manages skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living communities across the Midwest.
“While our name is changing, the Community’s dedication to providing quality care will not,” said Jeff Baker, interim executive director, The Esquiline. “The term Living Community better defines our campus as a resource for the continuum of care we offer to area residents. Our campus provides independent living, assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and much more.”
In addition to the campus name changing to Benedictine Living Community – At The Shrine, the independent living will be known as Benedictine Our Lady of the Snow, skilled nursing as Benedictine Dammert Center and assisted living as Benedictine St. Francis.
