Archford Accounting names director of tax strategy

Archford Accounting announced the addition of John McGowan, PhD, CPA, CFE as director of tax strategy to its growing team.

In his role, he will be responsible for managing client relationships, ensuring compliance of tax laws, and tax planning for businesses and individuals. He has a Certified Fraud Examiner certification to assist clients with internal controls to prevent or identify risks. He also serves as an expert witness on economic damages.

Prior to joining the Archford team, McGowan was the professor of accounting at St. Louis University for 33 years and served as the department chairman. In fact, he was Amanda White’s, Archford’s Chief Financial Officer, professor at SLU. He also worked as a tax professional at a variety of CPA firms and owned his own tax practice for 25 years.

McGowan received his Ph.D. in economics and tax from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Triple A Youth Foundation, which supports urban youth through golf and tennis scholarships.

In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and golf, scuba diving, traveling to Spanish speaking countries to practice his Spanish and spending time with his wife, children and grandkids.
