IDOT to shut down I-70 ramp for bridge repairs

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces a closure of the ramp from eastbound Interstate 70 to eastbound I-64 beginning March 15, at 6:30 a.m., weather permitting, to allow for bridge joint repairs.

The closure is expected to last approximately one week.  A marked detour will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Use of alternate routes should be considered, when possible, to avoid the work area.

Advance warning signs and message boards will be in place to warn motorists of this closure.  Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Project to begin in Alton

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced lane closures on College Avenue (Illinois 140/111) between Kendall Avenue and Fosterburg Road beginning on Monday, March 15, weather permitting.

The eastbound and westbound directions will be reduced to a single lane in each direction. This work is necessary to make bridge deck repairs and is expected to be completed by September.

Drivers may experience long delays when traveling through the work zone and are encouraged to find alternate routes during construction. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
