Major road project to get underway in O’Fallon

The O’Fallon Public Works Department will begin Phase One of the West Presidential Streets Rehabilitation project on Monday, Jan. 18. This phase will install new sanitary sewers, water mains, storm sewer, curbing, and asphalt pavement along West Madison Street, as well as the areas of Cedar Street, Oak Street, and Cherry Street to the north of West Madison Street.

During construction, drivers are urged to use caution and may experience local detours throughout portions of the project. The first closure will be on West Madison Street from Lincoln Avenue to Oak Street beginning Wednesday, January 20. This closure is anticipated to last three to four weeks. Drivers are urged to use Lincoln Avenue to Adams Street as a detour during this closure.

The cost of the project is $4.2 million. This work will be completed by LW Contractors, and is expected to be completed in October, weather permitting.
