Sayad & Associates, LLC opens firm specializing in international law

Sayad & Associates, LLC has opened a new law practice out of St. Louis specializing in international law and business consulting.

E.W. (Gentry) Sayad, J.D. has returned to the U.S. after living in China for more than 15 years and plans to serve clients and companies around the world. Sayad’s deep, extensive experience in U.S. commercial law and litigation, including handling international transactions, global market-entry and market strategies, FCPA and compliance issues, intellectual property, dispute resolution and Asia in-bound and out-bound investment will be a large focus of the new practice.

“I am thrilled to move back to my hometown and still follow my passion,” said Sayad, who will serve as the managing partner at the firm. “At Sayad and Associates, we will not only be able to provide counseling and legal services to companies in St. Louis, but also throughout the U.S. and around the globe.”

Sayad has advised clients throughout the U.S., Asia, Europe and the Middle East. He has served as legal advisor to the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and currently serves as general counsel and member of the Executive Committee to the U.S. China Investment Council (USCIC) for investment and trade between China and the U.S.  Sayad is also a member of the President’s Roundtable, a membership only group of the top 65 CEOs of international Fortune 100 Companies in Asia since 2010. Sayad is the only attorney member of the group and serves as its unofficial counsel. Now, in St. Louis, the new law firm is already serving clients globally on topics such as IP infringement, compliance, dispute resolution and complex cross-border transactions. At present, Sayad & Associates has a staff of seven attorneys in the U.S. and China, including Sayad, with plans to grow in 2021.

An expert focus of practice for the firm will be to counsel local, state and federal governments and trade associations on issues relating to international business, trade, compliance, structure, due diligence and international intellectual property theft and cybersecurity issues. Sayad’s experience includes advising members of three U.S. administrations, including the Trump and Obama administrations, members of Congress, state governments and educational institutions regarding China policy.

Before moving to China in 2007, Sayad served on the St. Louis Opera Theatre Board of Directors from 2000-2007. He was also a President and a mayoral appointee of the Forest Park Advisory Board which has oversight authority of all projects and renovations in the Forest Park. He was also a Corporate Partnership Committee and Young Friends Steering Committee member of the St. Louis Art Museum. He is a member of the Bar Association, American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, International Bar Association, and American Bar Association. He is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. For undergraduate work, Sayad earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
