Alton Main Street plans a second round of facade improvement grants

Alton Main Street has launched the second round of its Façade Improvement Grant Program.

The initiative is designed to assist property and business owners in Downtown Alton with rehabilitating the facades of  their buildings for the purpose of creating a positive visual impact, stimulating private investment, and complementing other community development efforts.

The fall round of grants is specifically for the restoration/replacement of existing commercial signage, or installation of new signage. Property owners as well as tenants are eligible.

Download an application at Downtown Alton.com, click “Doing Business,” then “Resources.”

“We thank our sponsor First Mid Bank & Trust for making this round possible, and Arrow Signs for offering a 5 percent discount to any grantee that chooses to use their services,” Sara McGibany, Alton Main Street’s executive director, said in a recent newsletter. “We are seeking corporate sponsorship to continue the program in 2021.”

Companies wanting more details can call the office at (618) 463-1016.
