Belleville to cut ribbon on streetscape project

The city of Belleville will dedicate it streetscape project on Tuesday and is inviting the public to take a look.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at noon.

The project along West Main Street began two years ago. The leg is from Sixth Street to 12th Street.

The project has included new sewer lines, storm water drains, water lines, sidewalks, curbs, pavement and lamp posts. Plans call for it to be extended all the way to 17th Street.

Ceremonial details are contained in the flyer below.

Too bad this will do nothing to save a sinking ship. My parents moved to Belleville in 1982 just off of 72nd and West Main. Sewer smell in that area is uaually rancid but no real action taken after years of complaints. Just temporary deodorizer added in recent years but nothing to correct the problem.
