Madison County Board member, Collinsville official Larry Trucano dies
Collinsville Township Road and Bridge Commissioner and Madison County Board member Larry Trucano died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was 81.
Trucano had served as the Collinsville Township highway commissoner for 35 years and was a retired Collinsville police officer for 23 ½ years.
Collinsville Township Supervisor Dan Hopkins said in a statement: “It is a sad day for not only the Township, but for the entire Collinsville community. Everyone loved Larry. If you can find someone that doesn’t let me know. I’d love to meet them.”
County Board member Chris Guy, R-Maryville, reflected on his time with Trucano on both the County Board and previously on the Collinsville Township Board. “I served with Larry Trucano when I first got elected to the Collinsville Township in 2013. He was a gentleman and always made sure the roads were maintained and cleaned. He was truly a public servant. I was blessed to be on committees with him. He ran a good, tight, ship. I was shocked to learn of his death.”
Trucano was up for re-election with the rest of the Collinsville Township Board on April 6, 2021. An interim commissioner will be appointed by the supervisor and approved by the board at a later date.
Trucano’s term as County Board member for the 29th district was set to expire this year and he was not running for re-election.
