Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois celebrates 100 years

The Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois celebrated its centennial with a happy hour via Zoom video conferencing.

In attendance were members of the RASI Board of Directors, Realtor members, and staff. The event included multiple toasts, as well as a compilation video of birthday wishes from members as well as Sen. Paul Schimpf, Reps. Nathan Reitz and Charlie Meier, O’Fallon Mayor Herb Roach and Swansea Mayor Michael Leopold.

Exactly 100 years ago on June 5, area Realtor leaders came together to create the association for Metro East homeowners and private property owners. In the last century, the Realtor Association has been a part of the community, but not always known by the same name. In 1920, the association was known as the Arch View East Board of Realtor. In 1979, Belleville Board of Realtors and in 2005, our name was changed to the current name, Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois.

During the years, Realtor Association members have gone from meeting each other to get a key, to now using their phones to get into homes, from a handshake to paper contracts to paperless contracts, and from in-person office meetings to FaceTime, Virtual Tours, and Zoom meetings. This ever-evolving real estate world will always continue to change, but what’s important is the heart and soul of the association, the members – Realtor, business affiliate members, and staff.

“No matter what our name has been or how business practices change, the Association will always remain to be at the forefront of the Metro-East real estate industry. Bringing You Home for 100 Years.” says RASI President Donna Baker.

The Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois is the voice for real estate in Southwestern Illinois. Its mission is to empower members to succeed.
