St. Clair County 2019 real estate tax bill mailing delayed due to virus
In response to the hardships members of the community are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the St. Clair County Treasurer’s Office is delaying the mailing of 2019 Real Estate Property Tax Bills until June 15.
First and second installment due dates are tentatively scheduled to be extended until July 30 and Sept. 30. In addition, the St. Clair County Board will take action at their April board meeting to delay the first installment penalty through Aug. 31.
“We understand the toll this pandemic has had on our community and hope this delay provides some relief to families and business owners who are struggling during this time. Once we start collecting property taxes, my office will work expeditiously to distribute tax dollars to local authorities,” said Andrew Lopinot, St. Clair County treasurer.
“County officials and department heads are working hard to ensure county government services are still provided to St. Clair County residents as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This action by Treasurer Lopinot and the St. Clair County Board will help provide additional assistance to property owners during this time,” said Mark Kern, St. Clair County Board chairman.
Tax bills will include information on how property owners may pay their taxes online or through the mail. In addition, partial payments will continue to be accepted at the Treasurer’s Office
