Wildey Theater suspending shows through March 31

The Wildey Theatre has suspended all shows through March 31.  Any postponed show will be rescheduled.

In a late Friday announcement, the theater management cited the mandate from  Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Thursday ordering that all events with more than 1,000 people be canceled or postponed in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The request was also made to postpone any gatherings of more than 250 people.

“The 326 seat Wildey Theatre is owned and operated by the City of Edwardsville.  While the theatre is well under the mandatory number, as a government entity it is has been decided that the Wildey should follow any request concerning public health or safety by the Governor and State of Illinois,” the Wildey said in an email.

The statement continued:

“Because of this, all theatre shows including concerts and movies through March 31, 2020 have been postponed.  Any decision to postpone future shows and events will be made on a week to week basis and dependent on updated information on COVID-19.

“Once the shows are rescheduled, the option will be given to ticket holders to attend the new date or get a refund.  Please be aware that it may take 2-4 weeks to reschedule the new dates.

“We thank you for your understanding with this matter. We will email updated information. Also, please check our website and Facebook page for updates,” the statement said.
