Hickman named board chair for Illinois Division of United Way
Phil Hickman, president of the Southern Illinois/St. Louis Metro East market of Associated Bank, has been named 2020 auxiliary board chair for the Illinois Division of United Way of Greater St. Louis. He succeeds Peggy Lewis LeCompte who has held the chair position since 2019.
“United Way plays an incredibly valuable role in supporting our community’s safety net to ensure local people get the help they need to live their best possible lives,” said Hickman. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved in advancing this mission and creating lasting change in our communities.”
Hickman has more than 35 years of experience in banking and financial services and is currently responsible for the executive management, strategic direction, growth, profitability and overall leadership for Associated Bank in the Southern Illinois and Metro East region. In addition, he helps guide strategy and initiatives for community markets throughout the bank’s footprint. He is a member of the American Bankers Association and Illinois Bankers Association. Hickman holds his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and a master’s in Business Administration from Capital University.

In addition to his work with United Way’s Illinois Division, Hickman also serves on the board of directors for United Way of Greater St. Louis. He is a board member for the Leadership Council of Southwest Illinois and the Alzheimer’s Association – St. Louis Chapter and serves on the economic development committee of the Greater Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as an executive committee member and chair of the finance and sustainability committee of East Side Aligned.
