WestRock Co., a papermaking and packaging firm, has filed notice with the state that it intends to close its facility in Edwardsville, which will affect the jobs of 68 people.
According to the notice filed with the state of Illinois, the first layoffs will take place Feb. 28 and the last layoffs on March 15.
The facility is at 3101 Westway Drive, which is in the Gateway Commerce Center.
The decision was a result of market demand, a spokesman said. The company operates another facility in Gateway, as well as a few others in the St. Louis market, and employees are being encouraged to apply for available positions.
At the site to be closed, personnel assemble merchandising displays, such as those at retailers.
