The Korte Company reports on multiple projects in Southwestern Illinois

The Korte Company has had a busy year, teaming with a number of partners on construction projects in and around Southwestern Illinois.

Anderson Hospital: The Korte Company teamed with Anderson Hospital to deliver an $8.5 million design-build ambulatory surgery center and pediatric clinic located in Edwardsville.  To date, The Korte Company and Anderson Hospital have partnered on over 25 major construction projects that span nearly 30 years.

The 18,331-square-foot facility, designed to house both the Anderson Surgery Center and an SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital Specialty Clinic, is the first facility located on the 10-acre Goshen Medical Office Campus on Goshen Road.

The ambulatory surgery center features an outpatient surgery center with two operating rooms, post anesthesia recovery area, procedure room, pre-operation prep rooms, multiple exam rooms, sound booth room, and space for X-rays and laboratory services. Additionally, the facility incorporates a pediatric specialty clinic, operated by SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

Future plans for the campus include three additional buildings including a physicians’ office building, urgent care center and an imaging center.

Hershey: The Korte Company first partnered with The Hershey Company to deliver its original 1.1-million-square-foot design-build facility in Edwardsville. When it came time to expand, the company was there to facilitate the plans.

The 292,410-square-foot expansion and improvements to the existing facility increased the total size of the Hershey Midwest Distribution Center to more than 1.3 million square feet. The warehouse addition is primarily steel frame construction with exterior metal panels. A thermoplastic olefin roof system was selected because of its UV-resistant and heat-resistant qualities.

The expansion includes 285,000 square feet of additional warehouse area and 7,400 square feet office space. The new warehouse space features 48 loading docks, maintenance areas, conveyor equipment, storage racks and a forklift battery charging area.

Highland fire station: The Korte Company worked closely with the city of Highland and the Highland-Pierron Fire Department to design and construct a 9,822-square-foot design-build facility in Highland.

The $1.9 million firehouse, located on five acres, features approximately 2,921 square feet of meeting and office space, a full kitchen, storage space, training areas and bathroom facilities.

Four double deep, drive-through apparatus bays provide a 6,901-square-foot service area for emergency vehicles. The 18-foot high bays provide direct access to the work room, hose rack drying area, equipment storage, restroom, laundry and mezzanine.

Stillwater: The $5 million Stillwater Memory Care in Edwardsville, currently with 46 living units and 40 employees, is forecast to grow to 80 units and add 32,000 square feet by winter 2020, weather permitting. Stillwater is located at 1111 University Drive and the addition will be built behind the current building, stretching toward the pond in the property’s rear. The new addition will cost $5 million and add at least 20 new employees.

The project consists of adding 34 additional units to help facilitate a memory care addition. The addition will also include a chapel, salon, dining area, fitness room, physical therapy room and a family room.
