Bigelo’s Bistrow to close in downtown Edwardsville

Bigelo’s Bistrow, a downtown Edwardsville institution, will close this month, the restaurant announced Monday night.

“So much has changed since we first opened our doors in 2000 with determination and a dream to offer our customers excellent food in a laid-back atmosphere. Our own families have grown while downtown Edwardsville has experienced dramatic transformation,” said a note on the restaurant’s Facebook page.  We’ve decided to end this run on a high note so that we can spend more precious time with those who mean so much to us. As of Oct. 11, Bigelo’s will close. Thank you for letting us be a part of your family for the past 19 years.”

The restaurant at 140 N. Main St. is owned by Edwardsville resident Jeff Thomas.

So sorry to see this…absolute best spot for so many delicious favorites, including tomato basil soup and amazing grilled cheese sandwich on Texas toast. Best wishes to the owners and staff. Thank you for serving us all these years!

Nooooooooooooo! We love this place! It’s our family’s go to restaurant for casual good food. This is very bad news. Thanks for all the good food and friendly service.

Bummer…My favorite restaurant for the past 15 years is closing on my birthday. This has been a great place to take the kiddos. They love the gourmet mac cheese, waffle fries, and blue cheese chips. We actually just had supper there last night. Well, perhaps they will need help finishing off their fine selection of draft beers on my birthday… ; )

One of the only restaurants in town which offered a Chef Salad. Food was always well prepared and service as well. We will muss you.

Our favorite go to restaurant. The food is and has always been the best. Our son absolutely loves the waffle fries! We wish you the best of luck in the future and thank you for outstanding service(the waitresses are the best in town)every time we came in. We will definitely be in a few more times before the doors close.

Great place and will be sorely missed. But honestly, one of the least graceful farewells of a restaurant I’ve seen. Clumsy way to go out for such a beloved establishment.
