The Illinois Department of Transportation says the Clark Bridge in Alton will be restricted to one lane in each direction beginning Monday, Sept. 9, for two months of repairs.
Weather permitting, the work should be completed by mid-November, IDOT said this week.
Drivers may experience delays and are asked to use alternate routes during this time.
The heavily traveled bridge carries U.S. 67 across the Mississippi River between Illinois and Missouri. The nature of the repairs was not clear in IDOT’s announcement.
The contractor on this project is Keeley & Sons, Inc. of East St. Louis.
