HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital announced the appointment of Dr. Vinay Bhooma as chief medical officer.
He began in the role April 29.
Bhooma recently served as medical director of Hospital Medicine at Trinity Regional Medical Center, UnityPoint Health, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Additionally, he has been serving in multiple roles there as Chief of Medical Staff, Medical Executive Committee and Quality Board Member, and Physician Advisory Council member, while also serving as a member on UnityPoint Health’s Clinical Performance Board. Prior to his service at Trinity Regional Medical Center, he was employed as a Hospitalist at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Beacon Health System, in South Bend, Ind., and at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, in Wausau, Wisc.
Bhooma completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Kurnool Medical College, in Kurnool, India, and his Doctor of Medicine degree through his Family Medicine Residency at Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines. He also has an MBA from Indiana University, Indianapolis.
