Road to be closed for repairs to railroad bridge in St. Clair County

roadworkaheadlogoThe Illinois Department of Transportation says Bond Avenue in Alorton, from 37th Street to 41st Street, will be closed beginning Monday, May 6, weather permitting. This closure is required to make repairs to the bridge over the Alton/Southern Railroad.

Message boards will be in place to move traffic around the closure. The work is expected to be completed by the end of July 2019.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to the detour signs, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

The contractor on this project is Keeley and Sons, Inc., from East St. Louis, Illinois.
