Memorial Hospital affiliates name new members to boards

New members are serving this year on the various boards serving Memorial Hospital operations.

memorialhospitallogoProtestant Memorial Medical Center  Inc., dba Memorial Hospital Belleville, recently named these new members:

• Rachel R. Jackson of Belleville is founder and executive director of Project Compassion. She also serves on the boards of the Belleville YMCA, Racial Harmony and United Way.
• Tracy E. McCollum of Belleville owns Standard Rule Promotions and is active on the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce serving on its Board of Directors, Ambassadors and Marketing Committees. She also is a past president of the Chamber Board.
Scott Givens of Belleville is chairman of the Board; Rev. Rob Dyer of Belleville is first vice chair; Robert Mueller of Smithton serves as second vice chair and Geri Boyer of Belleville is third vice chair.

Memorial Hospital Belleville is a 222-bed acute care MAGNET designated hospital offering emergency and critical care services as well as medical, surgical and obstetrics along with a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services. Also located on the Belleville campus, The Orthopedic and Neurosciences Center offers a comprehensive rehabilitation program that includes physical, occupational, speech and hand therapy.

Meanwhile, Martha Kahlert Weld, PhD of Belleville has been named to the Memorial Hospital East board.

Weld is assistant superintendent of O’Fallon High School District 203. She is a member of the Illinois State Board of Education Advisory Council and is a past member of the Illinois State Board of Education Consolidated Committee of Practitioners.

Kurt Schroeder of Shiloh has been elected to serve as chair of the Memorial Hospital East board of Directors succeeding Doug Distler of O’Fallon who served as board chair for the past two years. Dr. Valerie Thaxton of Shiloh is first vice chair; Chris Eckert of Belleville serves as second vice chair and Greg Cundiff of O’Fallon is third vice chair.

Memorial Hospital East is a 94-all private bed MAGNET designated hospital located in Shiloh. Memorial Hospital East offers a 24/7 emergency department, medical, surgical and diagnostic services including cardiac catheterization, imaging and laboratory. The Family Care Birthing Center features 16 spacious LDRP suites, two dedicated c-section rooms and neonatology coverage.

Garrett C. Reuter Jr. of St. Louis and Gary Guthrie of Belleville have been named to Memorial Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Reuter is an officer with Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C. in Swansea. He serves as board secretary for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois as well as is on the boards of the St. Louis Sports Commission, Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois and Belleville CEO.

Guthrie works for U.S. Bank as senior portfolio manager; institutional asset management; US Bank Institutional and Corporate Trust. He is on the board of Illinois Center for Autism serving as board finance chairman as well as is a member of St. Clair Country Club.

Geri Boyer of Belleville has been named Memorial Foundation board chair succeeding Robert Mueller of Smithton.

Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the purpose of Memorial Regional Health Services through fund raising and friend raising activities that promotion health, wellness and related services available throughout the organization.

Memorial Regional Health Services is a non-profit organization which is part of BJC HealthCare. It is the parent organization of Memorial Hospital Belleville, Memorial Hospital East, Memorial Care Center. Mark J. Turner serves as president.
