Realtors, Home Builders donate to two local charities for holiday

The members of the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois, in conjunction with the Home Builders Association of Greater Southwest Illinois, collected toys, food, and money for two local non-profit organizations.

The Realtor Association held its Annual Holiday Celebration with the Home Builders Association on Dec. 6 at Gateway Classic Cars where the groups brought in loads of toys as well as bags of canned goods and non-perishable food. Many members also made monetary contributions totaling more than $350.

“Our members not only work here, they live here” said Judy Ross, president of the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois, based in Shiloh. “Giving is so important, but to give back to your community shows the sense of pride these Realtors have for their hometowns. These organizations depend on the generosity of others and help so many people, who may only need help around the holidays, or may depend on them every day, which is why the Realtor Association gives all year long.”

Throughout 2018, the association also helped the Realtor Relief Fund, the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois and the Airmen’s Attic at Scott Air Force Base, and now the Griffin Center and the Community Interfaith Food Pantry.
