Lindenwood University-Belleville is now a member of the Illinois Articulation Initiative, a statewide transfer agreement that aims to smooth out the transfer of credit hours for general education courses between participating institutions.
“We’re very excited to be part of this initiative because it will allow us to better serve transfer students, who can maximize their time at a partnering community college, then come to us to complete a bachelor’s degree,” said Dr. Renee Porter, campus provost.
Lindenwood University-Belleville currently shares transfer agreements with 14 academic programs at nine different institutions throughout Illinois and Missouri and through the IAI, intends to expand articulation agreements with Southwestern Illinois Community College, Kaskaskia College, Lewis and Clark Community College, Rend Lake Community College, and John A. Logan Community College.
“Our goal is to provide transfer students with an individual degree map to maximize the credits they’ve already earned at another institution and partner with them toward degree completion,” said Dean of Admissions Reeta Piirala-Skoglund. “With that, we are developing several 2+2 transfer guides, where students can spend two or three years at the community college and then transfer to Lindenwood for the final year or two to complete their degree.”
